WTF, so mechanics aren't exactly the best paid peopel despite garages charging the earth for their services yet you have to provide your own tools Surely thats goot be illegal these days

If you buy a decent set of tools like Halfords Pro or Snap On you only have to spend that initial outlay, then you just keep on adding if you need. Decent tools have a lifetime warrenty so they will last you forever and you get new stuff free as and when you break it all

Most trades have to provide their own tools, joiners, plumbers, brickies etc.

Firms will tend to supply power tools and specialist stuff but your basic hand tools are yours and, if you buy quality and look after them will last you a long time.

Harsh, all the tools of my trade are paid for... ie. membership fees, exams fees, studying costs etc!! culd never afford to do it all meself!

sounds like the manual laborer industry needs updating!!!
