wanting to lower my car, cos with alloys imo on standard shocks and springs the car looks way too high
im planning on puttin an xe in in the near future, but would just lowered springs be able to cope with the extra weight of the xe? or would i def need a whole new suspension set up?
advice needed! cheers.

It'll work, but ideally you want 2 litre front springs.

just replacing springs is a bad idea unless they are Eibachs or H&R springs.
if you fit an XE a decent suspension setup is a must

in my personal opinion for both looks and handling, go with coilovers!!!
do not settle for anything less, because coilovers will give you both better looks and handling...
and they will be able to support the weight of a new engine with no problems...

on what point exactly?
and also you have to take into consideration the manufacturer and model as you can get some SH*T coilovers...

I'd rather go with a full set of bilsteins and 2 litre front springs.

i would say personal preference also comes into this, ive had coilovers on both my corsa and vw's aswell as springs on a few cars and the difference to me speaks for itself...
since i first bit the bullet and got a set of coilovers i would never go for anything less...especially as you can get height and damp adjustable coilovers for you ideal ride quality...and also if you ever change your wheels, you can easily just adjust the height to get that wkd ride height...
but then also depends on your bedget aswell...
but whateva you get id jus say...
'buy cheap...buy twice'

i say go for the best springs/dampers rather than average coilovers.... which is kinda what both dean and gill say

Oh and i would also say that the weight isnt the big issue here, think about the extra power your getting with the XE... would you really wanna be driving with crap suspension?

yep well if possible i would advise to try and have a ride in cars with both, one of my friends had a 325 e36 bmw, lowered on shocks and springs, and he doesn't buy sh*t equipment.
cant remember the shocks but they were bilstein springs, the ride was good i have to admit, but when running the car low he did get alot of contact between the arch and tyre because the springs and shocks were a bit tooo soft.
another one of my mates had a m3 e36 and had Konig Coilovers, and the ride was exceptional, better than the 325 and because of the ride and damp adjustable he was able to run the car lower, a bit stiffer (but still comfortable) and he got virtually no contact between arch and tyre...
