Im crap at this computer rubbish, is there a limit to how much my computer can actually use? How can I find out what this limit is?

Yes there will be a limit. My mb is an older one and has a 4gb limit I think. Maybe 2?

There will be a limit to how much your motherboard can take, and unless you know the name/model, then it could be quite hard.

even if you put in 3x 2GB sticks it will work but just wont recognise any more than its limit,
e.g 3 gig

eithe ropen the case and right down the make model then search it or you may be able to get the model in device manager.

it means the Max you could have is:
2GB of RAM PC6400 per slot and you have 4 slots

8GB in total then? Dont think I need all that, but good to know.......
For a non-gaming p.c running Vista Home Premium etc.etc. how much do you reckon I should upgrade to? Currently on 512 and for some reason(I assume a lack of memory) WMP keeps freezing mid-song and programs are slow to load up.
Would getting more ram sort this?

Media player shoudn't freeze up because you don't have enough ram.
Should help the speed programs load up though.
The max amount of ram you can have on a 32bit OS is 4gb, no matter what the motherboard supports.

You can always use PAE on a 32bit OS though as long as any single program doesnt use more than 3/4GB.
