i know if the wipers touch it, then it will fail an MOT.

But does this actually make it "illegal" in that you will fined from the police if pulled etc?

I thought that it would, because if it fails an MOT then surely it's classed as not 'safe' and therefore illegal.
But some badger at college insists otherwise???

my mate has a sunstrip on the inside of his front windscreen that goes lower than the front wipers. but as the wipers don't touch it, it isn't illegal nor MOT fail.

i mean the ones on the outside of the window that come down past the wiper blades.

is it just coppers disgretion then if he decides it's too low and blocks the view?

doesnt matter if its on the inside or out if its over 40mm in the swept area then it will fail an mot

if you get pulled by the cops they will prob give u a nice ticket telling you to take your car to an mot station, which means you will have to take it off, when i used to have them i never got pulled tho. also helps being a tester tho to lol
