Do I really have to buy bottom end? why can't I just replace the pistion?
And, by bottom end you mean, pistions, rods & crank?

if you are going to replace the piston you might as well do all 4 and replace the rings at the same time. I know someone selling 4 new pistons and rings for £200.

You don't HAVE to buy a bottom end, but if it were me, I'd rather pay £200 for a complete bottom end than £193 for one piston.
