I currently have a 1996 Corsa Sport 1.4 16v Ecotec. I am thinking about getting another 1.4 16v Ecotec engine to tune up then swap in. However there are a few things I am confused about regarding the Ecotec range of engines.
Are the Ecotec engine's still called XE? as in would my 1.4 16v Ecotec engine be called 14XE or X14XE? I have been looking at SBD's range of products and they mention 14XE and Ecotec as if they are Seperate engines? Also would the 1.6 16v corsa GSI head (red top) fit onto my 1.4 16v ecotec block? I ask as this head is supposedly better flowing in stock form. Another idea would be to just get a 16XE and tune that up instead.

the engine in your sport will be x14xe, SBD probably just abbreviate.
You will get better gains per £ if you go with a x16xe.

Not really. They are the same in the Tigra and the Corsa. Just make sure it's not an X16XEL out of an Astra. These have lower power.
