99 sport brakes 1600 16v ones, they arent upto stopping a c20xe corsa are they??

probably not. even get some 16v cally breaks. cheap as chips

their both 256 iirc the only diff is the thickness as the 2ltr ones are thicker??

Theoretically, they should cope as there is less weight to cope with, but for the sake of £50, I'd go for 2 litre ones.

they are both 256mm but i think the 2ltr ones are 2mm wider.
Whats the BIG difference then abdus??

2ltr feels better on the pedal than 1.6 ones. imo 2ltr ones work alot better as the pedal don't feel spongy as much as 1.6 brakes

have you tried them both? 
the BIG difference isn't the 2mm. But the overall result when you brake. And as Robin said, the calipers is where the difference is and Mo too, regarding the pedal feel which is definitely less spongy.
the 2l are definitely better.

ive had 2ltr brakes on my nova (XE), i agree they were good but but seemed to be changing worn pads more than my boxers.
my gsi ones on my car (XE) have been on there for a while even a trackday and it got fucking raped.. the pedal didnt seem to drop off, go spongy or anything. even the 2 other mates thats drove it said they thought they were better than 2ltr brakes.
i suppose most of it comes down to personal preference
