my dads passat 130 pisses on corsa gsi's easily. keeps up with 106 gti easily but cant go past one!
great cars these, get the 130, take it to revo get it mapped to 200bhp for 400quid

You can get more than 200 brake out the 130 engine, from just a remap though 175 tops.

cant comment on the mk4 golf but my mate has the mk5 astra with the 150bhp diesel engine in it, i would imagine that was pretty equal to a mk4 golf gt tdi(150bhp model)
the astra is surprisinly quick and certainly seemed to be about the same pace as my mates old focus st170

which golf is this its 140 or 170 mate

My 130 is running 170bhp and its brilliant to drive, loads of torque.
I bought it to replace my Astra LET as a daily driver and I havent missed the Astra.
I'd advise anyone to buy one

The 150's also have a habit of going wrong. (Speaking to a VW Mecanic)
The 130 is excellent - it is quick for what it is but its the torque which makes it.
Mate of mine has a 130 Passat and had it chipped by chipped uk. He come out with 182bhp and 330ft. The mini copper S that tried it on wont be doing that again.

no TDI 130 does not. A remapped one such as the 182 above is a different matter

The Passat is quick very quick (with the remap)
A mates bora is about to be done as well.

vag tdi's also have a habit of "feeling" faster than they are due to the short but concentrated power band and high torque.
Saying that they are still very impressive and will give a lot of cars a run for there money in gear

Drove a Golf GT TDI 130 remapped to 170 bhp and it was quick from low down in the rev range but didnt feel as all out powerful as my GSi - 210bhp-ish.

erm to state the obvious but the TDI won't be 170 for TDI and 200 for your GSI its not rocket science
