Need to leave it a good few hours at least really as the drying process involves the thinner in the paint evaporating out, hence if you try and trap it in, it will mess up the lacquer.  .

agree..
I have laquered black wheels and the result was quite good.
I just sprayed a mist of lacquer on the last paint coat for it to blend and become more effective
imo, it's just because of the 'plastic' bottle. try on something metallic

If you rush it and don't let the paint dry enough, then it will react with the lacquer.
I've painted a few sets of wheels now, all of which have come out fine. I let each layer dry properly, then i move on to the next, so for example i'll let the primer fully dry before applying the paint, but ones applying the paint it will be tacky between coats. Same goes with lacquer, let the paint dry fully, then apply lacquer but put the next coat on when the first coat has gone tacky (15-20mins).

iv primered and painted tonight will leave overnight til i laquer, i applied 3 lights coats of primer, that dried solid after about 2 hours, iv then applied 3 coats of colour, leaving about 30-40 mins in between, will leave to dry overnight, looks ok so far

put a last coat tomorrow morning and then just a mist of lacquer on it and allow to dry

5-10 after...just a fine mist...will blend with the paint
I've done it and worked out well. No flaking or anything

about 18-20 inch....
Spray the mist of lacquer after 5-10min of the last coat of paint.
Then allow to dry for 24hrs and the spray the laqcuer again, don't overdo it, it will become white... (from experience)

after the 24hr, the paint is still soft. It will take a week to fully dry iirc...

Should leave it 24 hours to properly dry and harden. I do between coats and have had no issues when doing badges, small car bits etc..
I also keep a tub or something over the item so no dust settles into the drying paint or laquer.

Right, checked paint today and am happy with the results so far, paint has dried nice and hard and has taken well, and finish is good.
My only query is it looks ever so slightly orange peely, when i laquer it will that take care of that or do i need to wet and dry this colour coat as it is? or will that ruin the finish?

maybe wet and dry it with some 1500 0r 2000, then put a final coat and then lacquer. Any pics?
