Is there any difference in the cylinder heads on a XE and a LET?

yes. LET has a lower compression. although this is probably done with different head gaskets

I thought the it was the bottom end being different. Pistons, Block slightly thicker etc..

The block is different as it has an oil pickup point on it, though an XE block can be modifiec into a LET block.

The heads are the same, but the LET would be fitted with LET cams...

Aye, the cams are different.

I think the valves/head are the same tho

The only differance in the 2 heads are LET's came standard with sodium filled valves.
