I think its fine as it is, bit of fooling around is good, makes it entertaining instead of a show all about JC blatting about in supercars that i'll never be able to drive!! Nice mix of News, chat, fast cars, average cars, fannying around cutting cars up etc its great viewing

Of course there is a happy medium, what did they used to do?

I watched bit of one this evening, and it had May talking about the savings to be had in the UK new car market - £10k off a Mazeratti

Anyway, they used to do it, so they can do it again.

There are plenty of cars for them to test now, effectively, and they should.

New M3 will be out, so why not pit it against the RS4. Corsa VXR vs. Clio 197. Actually review new cars, like the new 3 series cabriolet etc.

Top Gear will be back, of course it will.

I like the show the way it is,

In the past when it was a half hour on a thursday night i couldnt give a toss if i missed it, but now i never miss it

I like the challenges such as when they went to Norway, Clarkson drove and Hammond and May sailed, stuff like that is entertaining, and thats why the have 8million+ viewers,

a lot of us will never own the cars they test drive anyway, so i think its better to race them against each other rather than pick over fuel consumption and economy,

It IS entertaining TV and i hope they dont change it too much

The figures speak for themselves. Its being watched by people with no interest in cars who just want to be entertained. That for me says it has lost its way.

Afford?

The licence fee doesn't depend on whether you watch Top Gear or not?

not in that term. i meant that they wouldn't like to lose the top gear audience to another channel such as itv etc.

nothing to do with money.

The only thing Top Gear needs is even more funding and a cull of any staff members with the name jeremy clarkson.

It's the best program on television in spite of featuring the biggest wanker in creation.

I think in some ways he makes the show....he provides the petrol for the fire between all 3 hosts, which makes it very entertaining

JC tends to be slightly biased, he tests cars in un-realistic real life situations and slates them if they under perform.

e.g the vast majority of Vauxhalls...
