Lifestylewise most major Spanish cities are better than any UK city, more laid back, less violence, you get the odd gangs of thiefs but they tend to just bother other gangs instead of everyday citizens in general.

I live in Barcelona for a few years, it's got everything, nightlife, fashion, good trading, nice scenery, but Madrid blinds it from what I've seen.
