Have heard it a fair amount too. It would be a big risk, as would need to recreate his form of early Liverpool days to be worth while IMO...and that includes keeping injuries away so he can play without worrying all the time.

Aslong as we dont sign him back I couldnt careless where he went.

Ive never really understood these sort of debates about Owen being 'rushed back in' after his unending injuries.

He's played for some top drawer clubs now, surely they cant all be that wrong/desperate for his services to risk him if he wasn't fully fit?

Its not a hidden secret that if you rush back from one injury you put more pressure on other parts of your body and risk more injuries. Owen should of been back sooner but did his groiin in a few weeks ago for this same reason. Same with Henry.

Not really my point Cosmo...

Surely the top clubs he has played for (and been injured for) would appreciate that too?

Im not sure about the other clubs, but for Newcastle to play him for the full 90mins after such a bad injury (and a few on his road to recovery) Im not sure if they were fully thinking just about Owen's recovery!!

I have serious doubts Man United would buy a guy when they have no clue on his form. No doubting he was a world class goalscorer but is he still?

shocked me when I heard it, but have heard it from a few different places now so might be something to it. Still very doubtful IMO though.

Ferguson did like him i know that for a fact maybe thats where it's started.

He's still relatively young if he does have a good season next year!

Owen and Rooney upfront

I still maintain that he had an easy run out last night.

I think if Sibierski hadnt broken his arm and emre got injured as well then Owen wouldn't of plaed the full game, but then again Roeder hasn't got a fucking clue so.....

Owen would've signalled to the bench had he felt like he couldnt carry on. But he is a pro, an even fitter one at that.

its not getting injured during the game thats the problem usually. Its doing a full 90mins and pushing your muscles during the game, putting extra pressure on other muscles, and then coming off the pitch after the game.

Either way, nothing has been reported so it seems he is fine...but it has happened to him a number of times before.

he'd do better off someone like Crouch TBH, but you couldnt drop Rooney so would have to make it work!

Owens comments on last night -
quote:

'I didn't expect to play the whole game. I'll take it as a positive that I know I have come back twice as strong as when I left the field in Germany. We had in our mind that I would play for about an hour. But with the way the game panned out, with a couple injuries and us needing to nick a goal, I was feeling fine and carried on. I knew I would be okay and the physio told the manager I could play 90 minutes, if needed.
