I'm sorry but I refuse to believe it had 24 missing teeth. And your alternator belt should be a perfect V btw, hence the name poly v belt...

Corsa V belts are not a perfect V they have a flat bottom. Pictures will come Thursday as i'm not at college til then because I have exams at college and my tutors have my belt.

its a 12v valve so it has a timing chain
so I presume he means the aux belt that runs the alternator and water pump that has the teeth missing so it was no biggy unless it snapped then the car could over heat without the water pump
but you would have the batt light on the dash to tell you something was wrong to start with

How do you know this? Judging by the pic in his avatar, they did'nt do an M reg 12v. Also if it has a V belt it is'nt a 12v either.

I'm still confused as to how it ran though.

seems a more logical answer?
saying that a 12v has a v belt like you say
if its a old m regger the aux belt on them have teeth do they not?
