Are these the 'pop out' style windows? With the hinge on the B pillar?

Strange, normally it should be fine unless there was a slight crack or split within the window, which would smash under pressure.

Not sure on new windows, never looked into it

Claim on your insurance. Shouldn't affect your NCB, you'll have to pay an excess, but certainly won't be as much as the window costs.

Fit it yourself.

Excess on insurance for windscreens etc is £80. Certainly cheaper than a new windscreen would cost.

Excess for side windows might be less.

That is if your insurance covers all glass, like mine.

Rear window as in boot window?

Does your Saxo have a spoiler? My mate's VTR did, then the window smashed randomly, he had a new window fitted and had the spoiler removed and it never smashed again.

He said it was a common problem

Windscreen excess is usually £50. I'd get something 2nd hand though for the side window, easy to fit too.
