Mate is having trouble with the EGR on his X14XE. I know you can get a plate to blank it off on the inlet. What else is involved?

cheers

you do realise x14xe miles to the gallon will drop quite alot if removed.

The EML will still come on if the EGR is fucked, but the hole is blanked.

You need to do it with a working EGR valve.

Id doubt you'd see ANY change in mpg tbh.

Fitting a blanking plate shouldn't bring the light on? Afterall the egr is just a valve, the ecu operates the valve as normal, just nothing will enter/exit the valve, i dont see how the ecu can have any idea its blocked?

On another note, I bought an EGR blanking plate the other day, tried it out on my Z14XE and it worked, made NO DIFFERENCE at all to how it drove.

I took it off, started the car without the valve in and 'mazin.
