i can get a free static IP as part of my new package is it worth it? i know it has advantges such as allowing me to remote access, host my own website etc but are there any disadvantages?

no disadvantages, only cost usually (but as its free)

oh only disadvantage is if you get banned by ip from websites or forums you cant dynimcally change to reregister
