My tax run out last night, but I ordered my new tax disk online yesterday morning, Can I still drive the car with the tax in the post? I understand I need to display a tax disc but if the coppers are behind me and do a ANPR check will it flash up as untaxed?
Technicaly Ive paid and ive got the confermation email with all the referance numbers on

Im not sure, i thought they changed it so you cant use the "tax in post" excuse, even if it is?
Just use the car anyway, i used mine for a week waiting for insurance cover note to come through before i could tax it.

as long as you've paid it your allowed to drive your car, i waited 5 weeks for mine disc to come in the posted so i rung up and asked them and they said yep

Dvla said this to me when I had my tax disk stolen even though dvla know you have paid and waiting you are still driving without displaying a valid tax disk regardless which is an offence

Your supposed to order it 5days before it runs out to allow for it so theres no excuses.
daz 16v- you can only order it from the 15th of the month its due to expire iirc.

i did paid for it the week it ran out. got to my house 25th the following month but like i said the dvla said it was ok to drive on the road as it was taxed

I couldn't tax mine as I didn't have the paperwork back from taking the plate off, the girl said you have 14 days before you can get ticketed.

yes but one is to say the car is safe for the roads the other is a license to say you can use your car on the roads.totally different things

yes but why display it if its online now?? i could understand about it 20 years ago but things have changed .. im not syaing you shouldt get a tax disc but why display it??? and there not that different because without either your breaking the law

It's a service to enable you to tax it online the disc isn't online.saves having to go to the post office/DVLA.
i agree about displaying it but thats the law nothing you can do about it.i suppose it's there for traffic wardens and the like
