Halfords litre of brake fluid will be fine.

It's a messy old job and brake fluid will go everywhere

Just bleed them up correctly at the end!

Think its just a case of bleeding them up afterwards mate, I changed some on a KA a long time ago and if I remember rightly you don't loose alot of fluid, slowly trickles rather then squirts out. 1ltr of DOT4 will be plenty to top bk up.

I'd do the hoses first, pads is a 5 min job once you've got the caliper off, hardest job first

Have fun with brake shoes if you havn't done a set before. I've done a year as a n apprentice mechanic and I still can't do them

get a gunsone easibleed from halfords, makes the job 10X easier and better. only £15. also may as well refresh all the fluid while you are there rather than topping up, replace witrh good quality dot 4 or dot 5.1 if you drive hard.

remember to get 4x new copper seals for the caliper/hoses at the front, only pennies each but worth it.

rear shoes are easy. get a replacement spring kit for the rears, only £12 from halfords, the retaining springs are prone to snapping when removed.

well things never went great... brakes had worn down to the metal, would not release themselves from the drum due to them creating a lip, broke smething inside, so managedto get back together but the pads were binding, so got down to quickfit, "see you in an hour" etc, phonecall....brakes have seized, new pads, fitting kit and some adjusters from vauxhall, all coming to about £100 grrrr. and not having it till friday due to them not having parts available. i hate cars!!
