from what i remember, yes you do. the maps download via gprs or wifi (if you're in range) when you need them. Though you have to pay extra/monthy sub for the voices

try and do a search on here as nismo had a thread about it (or u2u him). im 99% sure that Asia/US got the maps on CD that you uploaded to the phone and from what i remember, in the UK the maps where downloaded when ever you needed them (they get deleted from the phones cache if space is needed for new maps, so it's wise to upgrade the mem stick). However, nismo posted the site of the company that does the UK mpas for the n95 and you could download them and upload them to your phone manually. The only charge was for the voices.

Nah, you download the maps onto the phone using maploader. It's free.
http://www.smart2go.com/en/help/maploader
It installs on your pc and downloads the maps via the net connection to your N95 using the data-cable.
You can install multiple maps from all over the world, depends what size memory card youve got. I just have the UK on mine.
After you've installed the UK map, leave your slider open on your phone with the gps software running and it'll find a GPS satellite and tell you where you are. Pretty neat. Must be clear to the sky tho, best put it on the window ledge.
