Im in the process of lowering the front on the car. Already got the two hub carrier bolts off, itself a challenge.
Now trying to loosen off the top mount half a turn, cant make the fucker budge.
Suggestions?

WD40
Drop neck ring spanner. and either an allen key or much smaller spanner depending on the type of standard suspension you have.
They just crack it off

Thats what my brother said, dont have access to one though
Well, unless I took the strut off, then took it down the local garage.
Could do it like that?

tbh its a million times easier when its on the car. When its off the car you need about 3 pairs of hands to hold everything

i got one loosened by putting metal tubes (one thats te handle on my trolley jack) and one from the hover lol, over the end of each spanner then got a mate to hold 1 while i pushed on the other...leverage is the key my friend
couldnt be arsed with the other so we took the strut down to a garage and airguned the bugger open...layed it down on the floor, one foot on it, airgun it and watch the topmount fly

Would I be able to put the nut back on easy enough, or would I be better doing it at the garage aswell?

Im defeated. Ill bring it down to the garage tomorrow, how can the impact gun get it off without having an allen key holding the rod in the middle?

get an impact gun from argos, thats what i did.
the initial impact of the gun cracks the screw loose.
there only like £15 odd quid. worth the money.

Dont have a compressor to use one though
Im really considering going halfers with my brother on a compressor, would be really handy for spraying, other air tools etc.
