Author new issue regarding hard drives :)

Ok I have a AMD Athlon processor and I am trying to run two hard drives off of it.

A Seagate 20gb
and a Samsung 250gb

For some reason the samsung is only showing up as a 30gb hard drive!!! What might be the reason for this?? I tried to format it but still says 30gb!!!

Just put the 250gb hard drive in as the master to install xp from the start but it still says 32248 MB on the setup ms dos prompt???

Any help would be good

You need to re-partition the disk as it's somehow only been partitioned to 30gb. I don't actually know how to do that though

but its saying unpartitioned space 32248MB!!! This is gay I HATE COMPUTERS TODAY!!!

Probably the jumper settings on the back of it - take the drive out and make sure you've only got one jumper on the master section.

ps. I'd probably put the smaller one as master, bigger as slave......

yeah that was what I was trying yo do have the smaller one as the master and that one works fine but I thought maybe the 250gb one doesnt like being a slave!!! lets have a look at these pins then

Hey aPk thank you very much for that mate apparently the samsung has two sets of pins for each thing. a limited harddrive set up and a full access set up it was set to limited!!!! Pins now corrected and the harddrive looking as massive as it should do aPk you are a legend.
