i want to be able to use my desktop(home pc) from work, i havnt got the 1st clue about using it though, any1 got any programs or advise how to set it up?

Right click "My Computer" on your home machine. Select "Remote" tab. Then tick the "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" checkbox.
Next, depending on your setup, you might need to adjust the firewall on your home router to allow it to work. Most routers already have it as an option like "Remote desktop" or something.
From your work PC go "Run" then type "mstsc". Then input your home IP address and away you go.
Also, if you're doing this to try and bypass Internet restrictions or a company firewall, etc then remote desktoping outside of the company will most likely be blocked already anyway. It is here.

also if ur have a dynamic ip adress u will have to run through a ddns server...

if you do have a firewall without a remote desktop option just open up port 3389
