Depending on the crew, some have it as gears throught the corner and some have it as tightness of the corner

Having been a co driver and now competing for a few years there are two types.

1-9 1 being 10 deg 2 20 deg then distance in yards etc so if you imagine a road with a slight left and a right turn it would read something along the lines of
100 LEFT 2 100 RIGHT 9
The pace notes are written 100 L2 100 R9
This system is mainly used by club rallying such as myself.

Then there is the gear
1-6 This indicates the gear but also the severity of the bend ie
100 EASY LEFT 6 THEN 100 RIGHT 1

I was going to try 1-6 but only having 5 gears isn't much use
