Came across this > Tutorial < and thought it might be useful to post it up here
Though the forum go'er talks about Ketosis/Ketone diets, such as the Atkins diet, being perfectly safe and good form of dieting to cut weight quickly, just as long that when you reach your target weight you re-introduce carbohydrates to maintain that weight. Just wondering if anyone had opinions/thoughts on this, as it seems to go against a lot of stuff i've read
p.s - if anyone can't read the post on the other forum, let me know and i'll host it somewhere!
p.p.s - another decent > Tutorial < on running!

Down to the person, not the fact the diet didn't work... although if he has lack of muscle / doesn't do excercise, his metabolism will still be shit and he'll go back to his fatty old ways.
Many can sucessfully lose on diets and keep it off.

Yup, its just a case of eating healthy and exercising! I lost almost 2 1/2 stone, now started putting on weight again cos im doing weights as well as the cardio. Diets can work to get rid of the weight, but only if it goes hand in hand with a generally healthy and active lifestyle. To be honest im tempted to do the atkins for a few weeks just to get rid of a bit more fat before I move to Spain, I know I wont put it back on though cos im still keeping up with regular exercise etc

Is the Atkins diet the one where you eat all fatty stuff & lose weight quick?
Sounds odd

You cut carbs out of your diet and eat meat etc etc so your body then uses your body fat for energy so you drop fat.
Makes you feel like shit, really run down and your breath starts to stink. Apparently it puts strain on your heart if your on it too long.
For me simply cutting all the snacking and eating crap between meals works wonders. I weight train 5 days a week and now have introducted cardio and a bit of boxing now its starting to drop off.

well yea, since uni i've gained quite a bit of weight (no suprise there ), around 2-3stone, so want to get rid of the bear belly and gain a bit of muscle.
Thing is though im unsure whether i should cut the weight first (so take up running, cut out the crap on the diet etc) then go to the gym to build the muscle, or go build the muscle from day one. Ideally i want to loose around 2 stone (so end up somewhere around 13 stone), cut my body fat down to something like 15/20% (so nearly half what i am at the moment) and then bulk up a little from there - but like i say, im a little unsure where to start.
John - yea, i've been reading about the Atkins diet and it seems that you end up feeling bloated and generally like crap (due to the large amount of protein you're intaking). But apparently if you work out at the same time it can counter it a little. But it's suppose to be one of the best diets to loose weight quickly, just as long as you gradually introduce carbs once you get down to your target weight.

As for the atkins, I've done it for 2 weeks before, didnt feel like crap, didnt notice my breath smelling, and I did lose about 5lbs. Obviously not healthy to do it long term as fruit and veg etc are all very important, but it is a good way to quickly get rid some of the excess insulation

Oh yeah, and it can end up being quite expensive having to eat a lot of meat. I went back to my mum's last night for a day so Ive stolen all the meat from her fridge and brought it back to uni with me

I do that, ive lost over 2 stone since xmas by just eating healthily and exercising, but cos its now less than 4 weeks till I move to Spain im going to cheat a bit for a little extra help. I fully intend to keep up the healthy eating and exercise though, its a whole new way of life for me now
