Just formatted computer, installed Win Xp and comp now has no sound, is an onboard nvidia chipset which have tried all different drivers for. Only thing that comes up in the device manager is that its saying i have a PCI Card that it cant find a driver for which i havent even got a PCI card in, all slots are empty. Could be something to do with it?

As it's onboard sound you'll need the onboard audio drivers - Probably Realtek AC97
|

tried that, still nothing , not got the volume control mixer or anything, is a real pain in the ass

check in the bios that onboard sound is enabled

it most certainly is enabled
