you are still free to post your views on the discussion are you not? if you dont like my views then ignore them and carry on discussing the handling of a 400bhp car. its not that hard.
well since the thread was made about 400bhp cars that IS the subject, by going off subject your breaking forum rules
and i am the first and only person to do this am i?
are you trying to be cool?
i fail to see how you cant recognise you first started in this thread posting shit

i believe the amount of work would over shadow the gains it would get by doing this. this thread isnt necessarily about my car actually, its based on a discussion a friend and me were having earlier. i was pretty sure the cornering ability of the 4wd would be far better, but i guess weight comes into it aswell etc

Dont think there is any 4wd corsas out there? Would need loads of work, bascially using the floor pan from a calibra etc.

plus nic would it not put you at a disadvantage at TOTB? as then you'd be in 4wd category, competing with the silly power 4wd cars?

There's at least one, rally car with Impreza running gear in Scotland somewhere.
RWD has also been done. Was one in CCC mag a few years ago.
Both motorsport not road cars.

yes exactly, fwd is the only thing people with not much money can compete in, in my opinion. id like to do it just for the sake of it more than anything. then again, its going to be no driveway job.
jnc did a 4wheel drive corsa turbo

I feel its to general a question to answer correctly, their are to many varying factors to take into consideration.
Driver ability?
tight slow corner?
open fast corner?
dry track?
wet track?

But if you look at the stats for 2wd and 4x4 saff cossies it is very marginal.
both will be similar, due to not much in power loss between the two..
rwd will still lose abit, due to gear box then rear diff, just like 4wd..
usually fwd or mr lose least
then rwd
then 4wd
iirc

If the car has switchable 4wd, so you can just use it as FWD would you be able to run it as FWD still say at Ten of the best?

yes i know. in general, youd assume the 4wd would be quicker round any corner for various reasons though would you not?

You would think so as you have that extra grip/traction over fwd.

We built a 4x4 corsa using a calibra floor, had fun it until the clutch went then its juat sat there at the unit for about a year now doing nothing. To make a corsa 4x4 you would need to add about 200kg or more of weight to it which would make it a waste of time.
With regards to both on track for the few laps I got before being black flagged for noise I was with a Evo and on the corners he smoked me but on the straight I left it. So actual lap times there wasnt much in it (if both are good drivers) just both cars have there advantages an disadvantages in completely different areas.
But on another note I have passed many a good handling car on corners but that is more than likely due to the other driver not being that good.
On a 1/4 mile the Fwd would own the 4x4 though if set up right.
