anyone know much about them?

ive got a .177 (just some cheap hatsan edgar brothers thing) with a 4x32 scope and it pretty acurate with the scope.

thing is i changed from pointed pellets to some lead free prometheus ones and they dont seem to penetrate anything now, before it would shoot through cans and a cm thick wood now it just deflects off the cans

is it because im using a lighter pellet?

I used to have a rifle, changed pellets and it wouldn't get through cans unless I increased the range a good 12ft or so, God knows why, must have been the terminal velocity or something?

perhaps your right ash, it was only 5-10 metres away and theyre high velocity pellets

also how do the sight ratings work i.e 4x32, 4x20 etc

actually i just googled it and wikipedia says that the 4x is the magnification and the 32 is the size of the lens, in general a larger lens is better as it allows a larger field of view and more light

My mate used to have an old air gun where you had to push the barrell back and click it in place. He only had 2 darts, I lost one of them when I used it and the gun made my arm jump up

My dad buys a new one each fucking week I have no idea why he insists on getting so many.

Started out with like £190 air rifle...

Then got some expensive air rifles...

Then got his firearms license / police interview etc...

Bought a proper rifle...

Then this weekend I came home and he's bought another real live ammunition rifle.

Kurt ....

prometheus pellets penertrate better than normal pellets

When shooting a .22 lead super point pellet it hits a target and folds. This takes some of the impact meaning it doesn't go as deep. The prometheus has a solid steel head and doesn't fold. This means they go deaper.

They are on the otherhand less accurate as the have a heavy head and light body.

If i shoot the bench outside with a prometheus it goes alot deeper than my pointed, domed, flat head or hollow point pellets

Strange, the prometheus should penetrate more than the pointed pellets. I can't help you there mate.

I've got a Weihrauch HW97K in .177 cal. Best springer ever made IMO. Use it for field target shooting and hunting. Very accurate up to around 50 yards, will put pellet on pellet. Still pretty accurate further than that.
