i started a new job this week, painting the forth rail bridge, probably not the best job for me as im scared of heights and deep water, plus theres no harness and the walkway is about a foot wide and see through so you know how far youre going to fall
the moneys good though and its quite exciting when it gets windy 360 feet in the air.
just wondering if anyone else has a cool/exciting job?

Ace job I guess it's a permanent job as the bridge needs painted constantly

takes so long you have to start again at beginning when you get to the end. How many coats do you have to give it?

Thats the road bridge. He works on the rail bridge, the one next door

my granda used to do that years n years ago, start at 1 end and when ya finish you need to start again

nah only the scaffolders get harnesses as they work on the outside shell, its not permanent just till christmas, and the bridge does sway abit in the wind so we get sent off if it gets upto 40mph, the whole thing rattles like fuck when a train goes over

Saw a programme on this not long ago. Some bloke, half his family had died on the bridge but he went to work on it anyway. They were showing a bit where they were like bead blasting in big heavy suits looked horrible tbh.

thats what i thought until i walked on to the job you dont really need them as most of it is decked out in scaffolding and grating style walkways
