Im not very clued up on working laws, but this week my work are shut for refurb..Now it is coming out of our holiday time..
I dont believe this is very fair, and wondering if it is in fact legit to do so. Since many of the staff have used their holidays up, it will be going onto next years holiday time.
Surley THEM doing a refurb is not in our time, therefor shouldnt be coming out our holidays?
Just wondered since a customer commented on how he thinks its not within the law.

not sure tbh, but i sure as hell wouldnt stand for it, not without them warning u at start of holiday year, so u can plan around it

I have to take holidays over half term, Christmas etc. when there are no students in. Can request to work and not use up holidays but this needs the appropriate approval and a good reason. They're certainly not obligated to allow you to work.

Well they do have one other pub/restaurant under the same company up here, but it is in Edinburgh..and I just cant see that being fair, when none of us have ever been to it, or know where it is lol.They did give us that option..bullshit i think

Dont think it is tbh, I had similar once when I broke a bone & couldnt work outside & they told me I would have to take some time off as my anual leave. I told them I wouldnt & thankfully they got me a job for 6 weeks in the office.
