I'm sure it just seperates when sitting still, nothing acidic

and nope, i have moved on from corsa's, well B's anyway. might be doing a project with chris C if the engine's are anygood ?

Can i ask why it helps turning it over without the fuel pump fuse in?

Surely it gets the bits moving, without the pressure/speed of fuel etc

yeh it gets oil circulating around the engine without it firing up

id pour some oil down it and leave it about 10mins so it a soak in to the cams etc

you will get a tiny amount of petrol in the oil and it mixes and some mad chemical reaction makes it acidic, not sulphuric acid acidic but enough to start eating at the sump

Because only air enters the cylinder, cylinder pressures are lower than when firing, thus reducing the force on the crankshaft which squeezes the oil film on the journals.

if you want to get it started without shattering the piston rings, heat up some clean engine oil till its almost boiling and pore it down the plug holes, leave it in there over night, go out next day and put it in gear and rock the car back and forth then whack the plugs back in it and see if it starts, the hot oil will free up the rings from the bore.
have done this on a 95 civic which had been standing there for a few years. worked a treat.
