Motorway miles you won't be far wrong.
My 1.6 was not so much worse than my 1.2, partly because the 1.2 needed to be high up the rev range to go anywhere.

you'l find the top half of the guage goes slower, Mainly due to using up fuel in the filler neck before the guage even starts to move

if the petrol gauge says 20 litre mark it could be lower...mine seems to go from half to the 8/9 litre mark :s

could do that, my old sri when on the motorway, as u say, between 40 and 90mph would get 45 even 50mpg

I'm seeking around 400 to a tank in my 1.6 pug. But that's me driving 60/70 one day and 80/90 the next day. Depends what mood i'm in really.

Urgh my 1.2 8v usually gets me 170-200 for a full tank (like 35-40 quid)... and there was me going by the rule "smallest engine - better consumption" NO.... now i have a slow car that drinks more petrol than a space shuttle.

i fill my 1.6 up when i get to a 1/4 of a tank up to a full tank (£30) i got 220 miles before i got to a 1/4 again.

Last week I got 90miles to £20 of petrol in my 1.6 8v mpi
astra. That was some 'spirited' driving though as I had just got the car

MR2 2.6 16v n/a - £10 = 50 miles maybe less
Megane Coupe 1.6 8v - £10 = 100 miles easy
