It pretty much goes like this: -

Engine wiring undone.
Shafts, hubs etc. off
Mounts off, old engine and box out.
Modify bulkhead
New mounts in (they bolt in anyway)
Engine in place
Bolt mounts up
Wiring
Shafts Hubs and what not
Wheels on

There ya go. Theres a few more bits, but it's not hard.

Oh yeah.......Beardy got my engine out and in nearly full job..........took him.........about 4 hours.

me and my mate did mine, first one we had done, had the engine in and running in a weekend

But were either of you a mechanic by trade

No, neither of us.

Really is straightforward, bolt engine in, attach wires (plugs are all different sizes so will only go where there meant to go)

Wiring in my GSi was simple - just match colour to colour from the Calibra to Corsa loom

When we stopped he popped the bonnet and told me it was a C2 bottom end, it had cams, a stainless exhaust manifold, full exhaust system and it had an ecu remap.

When we both backed off (or couldnt go any faster rather) i was half a car length ahead so yes i won if you like, normally its bye bye vts once id hit 3rd gear. This one was rather quick tho.

Oh and the Corsa was a basic spec GSi (the light one) that had an exhaust, filter, powercap and FSE but carrying 30st in passenger weight between me and my mate, the saxo was a 12st driver only

i believe so. ile give him a call and find out. iirc it was on a post on vauxsport about a corsa project in south africa. reason he noticed was because ide bought a pair of corsa bearings the day before after a mate did abit of turning on the m-tec hubs whilst i was off work and without the use of our workshop. (they'd basically splade up a massive burr on the outer edge). if the hubs were lunched we were going to use a set of cav ones we had lying around and machine them but then saw the post about the golf bearings.

not that i feel the need to justify myself to you or anyone else on this or any other website but do you have any idea of what the fuck you are talking about. to sum up my ability by saying we sound like we are able to weld scaffolding together gives me the impression you no nothing and tbh sounds like something my girlfriend would say. ile leave you "highrollers" to spend your money were you please as i am clearly only dreaming.

Doesn't mean he can make exhausts?. Sounds to me like he's a quite knowledgeable kind of bloke with a good workshop, that's usually the right sort of ingredients to be able to make whatever you want. Me on the other hand have access to a full factory where we produce car chassis, trailing arms, etc whether it be on a massive scale or a 1 off for someone wanting to make a kit car / kit bike. If I wasn't capable of making just about anything automotive (within reason) I don't think I'd be employed for very much longer!

being able to weld bits of metal together doesnt necessarily you know about exhaust systems. you could be an ace welder, and weld straight 90 degree bends together in an L shape in an exhaust. it would be shit. but because you know how to weld, you would assume it would be good? load of rubbish.
