i have allways used torrents and some times you get the bad ones or hard to find a file.
but yesterday i started using newsgroups at 5 last night and allready i've downloaded 14.5GB of stuff maxing out my connection 100% but it wont slow anything else down.
so i wouod reccommend newsgroups to anyone
4meg broadband getting 500kb/s soon be upgraded to a 8meg service
average downspeed pf 420kb/s
and it peeked at 1mb in the night

Use Newsleecher, their Supersearch service works just like any normal search, scans headers in a massive list of newsgroups and finds you what you need

otherwise, you can use newzbin.com and search for what you need, and it will create a NZB file to queue up what you want to downloan.

giganews is supposedly the best news provider, but i'm currently using newsdemon.com and they seem to be good.

you using grabit?
go to newzbin search for the file if the file is new you'll have no problem downloading. click the file to bring the info up. and you'll get a file name that ends in .nfo
copy and paste that into binsearch and you can create the nzb from there

I've banged on about how newsgroups are so much better than torrents but not many people have listened, a few use NG's on here though.
Newsbin.com I hear is a good indexxing site, along with Merlins Portal.....
So I hear....
Oh and Newshosting is THE best provider out there as it's by far the most reliable, Giganews is hit and miss, so I'm told.....

I use Easynews, I've used it for about 4 years if not longer and it's gone from strength to strength and I've NEVER had a problem with it. The fact you don't even need to use anything but a web browser makes it brilliant for when I was on a uni connection with all other ports blocked.

If you need to pay any money at all for newsgroups I don't know how they are better
I can get torrents as fast as my connection allows.

Because there's plenty of stuff that isn't on a torrent, or has been out a while so that a lot of the seeders have finished so it downloads slowly. Being able to use it at Uni with blocked ports was handy, too. I still use torrents as well as Usenet, but for what works out as £6 a month, which I'd only blow down the pub otherwise, I like having the option.

Because the costs are minimal, the speeds are as fast as your connection can go, it's stable, it doesn't require you to share anything, there's no chance of them being taken down tomorrow and then not being able to sign up to another one as it's "closed for new members without an invite"
It costs around £7 / month from what I hear, which tbf, is fuck all.
Just off the top of my head.
