It's the other way around bud. Have a C16 with damaged crank due to lack of oil and been advised head 'may' be for the bin too. Can get a cheap X14 head but I doubt it'll be the same as a C16 head.

strip the c16 head and rebuild it, new lifters, stem seals and regrind the valves and it will be fine.

I was going to send it away for polishing and porting too. Basically I wanted to send it away and get it back built to spec.

Is it worth the port and polish and what kind of money am I looking at for all the work and parts?

That's what i'm thinking, I have the 2 blocks here both look identical on the outside and I know they share the same crank so only really pistons and bores that may be different really.

How do you mean chief?

I have a C16 engine but the crank is totally mullered so bought an X16 block primarily for the crank but if it's the same as a C16 block which it is then I'll mate the C16 head to X16 block as the X16 block will no doubt be better condition. I'll check the 2 blocks first though for wear and damage.

Not 100% sure on all the facts but thats the primary reason why some of them were prone for burning oil and smoking etc.
I think they were recalled though.

Im sure someone on here will be able to fill you in better though

Ah, I had heard the GSi was prone to smoking a bit. Hopefully the X16 block was improved then.
