Well this is a bit random but worth a try if your idle control valve is being stupid, it worked for me.
Whilst idleing put it in 1st gear and drive without using the throttle the iac valve will open right up to stop it stalling, then put it in second let it drive for a bit then put the foot down so it closes again, then slow down and start the process again do it quite a few times and you should notice it works better now. It took me a while but works absolutely brillient now

or clean it with carb cleaner, x10 quicker by the sound of it

The idle control valve is attached to the throttle body or around that area, On a corsa sport it is quite hard to get access to, would imagine you need to remove the inlet manifold to gain access

remove the top of the inlet manifol d (5 10mm nuts), disconnect a couple of vac pipes and unclip the spring clamp from the inlet. Grab some troubleshooter/carb cleaner, open the throttle flap and clean. A long brush also helps for cleaning the residue of the sensor. Rebuild and your done. Takes about 20 mins tops (hot engine)
