yes thats correct lower insurance group to the 2.0 gsi and ecotec. of did they do a x20 in the mk3 gsi?

the reason they are called red tops is oddly because they have a red top, that has a red top too, so is also a red top

Steves right, its not a factory name. Its a nickname or aka that has been genrated by vauxhall fans etc.

Engines are reffered to by their codenames like C20 XE etc.

the engine is a C18XE IIRC correctly, came in the first 1.8 versions of the Astra GSi's and some Cesaros. When rolling roaded everyone i have seen or heard of has made more than book figures and nearer to 140bhp or over.

Quite a good engine, but pretty rare.
