£650 is alot of money, do you not have no claims protection? if you do surely the premium would not increase by anything near that amount if you were to let it go through the insurance?

Maybe you should get some other quotes from insurers including this claim to see what figures you receive, then compare it with the premium your paying and if theirs much in them that would justify you paying the £650 out of your own pocket?
If you had 5 years no claims discount, how come you have so little now? did you not have it protected when you made the claim?

it wasnt protected, basically with direct line if you claim you lose 2 years.
i had 5, made a claim in the summer when the 106 set sail, so now i have 3, if i claim again that will leave me with 1 and directline wont insure me

Thats alot to have to stump up My claim just cost £100 excess & around £100 extra come renewal time!
They prob wont even take it to Honda it will go to Joke Bawsacks garage to get fixed for half that amount!!
No damage to yours at all??

Oh shit, sorry to bring up the frustration of losing the NCD again....
even so maybe just for peace of mind try some alternative insurers, (reputable), with the possbile scenario and see what prices you get. Im just thinking in my opinion that £650 is alot but good luck to with what you decide. (If you get to 4 years make sure those puppies are protected)

i would get some quotes from other bodyshops steve i do bodywork where i work now and not even we would charge that much to replace a trim i work on vans and lorries that are damaged and we can replce a whole front end on a sprinter in about 15 mins thats lights grill bumper inserts and new bumper i cant see a lower trim including being painted and being clipped back on costing £210 +vat to fit etc unless they are using mega expensive paint and they could more than likely fix the lower trim and as you are paying cash they probs wont even fit a new trim just fix the old one

yeah but that just says they are planning on using those parts we have to supply reciepts to our customers for parts we have bought and used on repairs so you could ask for the same different if it was goign through insurance they would have to use them no choice unless they were told to repair damage to said items
