I use to hate the pull bouy.
As Andy says I was doing from 10-16 hours a week, and loved it until i got to about 17-18 and my mates where going to the pub and I was stuck at pool.

Another case of when Spanish doesnt have as much vocab as english, I was told it was "Una barrea" which is just a barrier hehehe. Although maybe to be fair the person who I was talking to might not have known the proper word in Spanish...

I used to hate the 50m pools, much preferred short course!
What do you do when you go? Just plod up and down continuously? You should try to mix it up and one day try 400m warm up, 10 x 100m swims off of an easy time of 2 mins then swim down for 200m @ the end. Design your own programs, mix the distances and times up as well

I usually do first 1000m fast pace (obviously not sprinting speed at that distance, but as fast as i can endure 1km), then the next 10 lenghts i alternate between one slow breastroke to recover, and one 25m front crawl sprint, then the next 4 lenghts slow front crawl to cool down. That takes me to 64 lenghts (one mile) which is the absolute minimum I do, so i usually do anohter 14 after that of fast front crawl then the last 2 slow breastroke to cool down (which takes me to the usual 80 lenghts) but if im not tired I dont bother with the 2 to cool down (79 and 80) and I jusr carry on with the fast front crawl up to 100. Although yesterday for some reason I just didnt get tired at all so I carried on to 128 (2 miles), nice round number hehe.

Break it down so you practice the different disciplines ie sprints 25-100m mid distance 200-400m, long distance 800-1500m and vary your rests whether you choose to do short rest intervals like 10 seconds for the sprints or 4 mins for 200m. Mix it up and push yourself, it will also get you used to how a club works, as at the moment all you are doing is plodding up and down

10 second rest between 50m sprints?! I don't think im quite up to that standard yet Good advice tho My main goal at the moment is still fat loss, hence all the long distance aerobic exercise, but I reckon within a couple of months ill be down to the size I want for the summer and then ill start doing more anaerobic sprint stuff. Im not really eating any carbs at the moment either (not doing the atkins or anything that strict, I just dont eat bread, pasta, potatoes etc) so I guess the sprints will be easier when I reintroduce them into my diet.
