Someone may have started a topic about this, so sorry if i missed it, but what's everyone's opinion on this? For/against/don't care? I'm all for it, mainly because i think death is the ultimate detterent (sp) and would make some of these spontaneous murderers think twice perhaps? Discuss...
Cheers.

Very few people are excuted it cost more to keep someone on death row for then years than 50 years in prison as you have to have a certain amount if appeals etc.
Bar killing a cop or children its quite rare to get the chair or needle now.

Death is far too easy for these bad people, they should be made to suffer

You can't bring back the death penalty here because our justice system is corrupt, how many innocent people would die to catch the guilty ones?

It costs more to execute somone than it would to imprison them.
Why would anyone want the death penalty back?
Death is the easy way out,
Anyone who murders should get life in prison, and i mean life not 25 years etc.
Make them suffer in prison for what they did...

A judicial review committe in america found that something like 70% of people executed in the last 50 years were most probably innocent.............
But im all for it if they have enough evidence. I also think they should bring back the cane, sort out all these little badgers!

That's one of the reasons why people are calling for the death penalty, as people don't suffer in prison, at least not our prisons
I am for it, as what use is Ian Huntley etc in this world, it may cost more to execute using the chair or needle, but the cheapest way is a big rope and a trap door . Granted the cost of appeals makes it expensive, but once they are gone, no more however much it costs taxpayers a day to keep the scum

No freedom,
= No life.
How is death suffering though, its all over in a few minutes, thats not suffering?

But with the steady decline in the justice system, life is never life these days.
I personally think it should be up to the victims' families to think of a suitable punishment. Knitting needles into someones tearducts would be a pleasant way to kill them if they murdered my children (don't have any yet but an example)

Death penalty. National DNA database. It all seems like a very slipery slope to mayjor fuckups. Then you'll all be whining that your taxes are being spent on massive legal cases and compensation when the wrong person gets hung.
