Put £5 of diesel in my old car (Jerry can, which i though had petrol in) Had to flood it out with petrol, and even then it didnt run right for a few hundred miles, lots of smoke from the exhaust

Deisel will run in a Petrol, but spluttery and will cut out, and cause lots of smoke.

Petrol might run in deisel for a few mins, then it needs quite a lot of work to sort it Its advised if you fill up with petrol in a diesel, and you realise before starting, dont start it, this makes it worse, call a recovery company, then they can sort it by emptying the tank, instead of all the fuel lines aswell etc.

I think petrol in a diesel is better than diesel in a petrol.

Not to sure on the molecular struce of the fuels but im sure the diesel is to thick for petrol engine to handle. I remeber when my mate put diesel in his 2stroke bike and it just made it tick over a full rpm and it wouldnt cut out, even when you put your hand over the exhaust (which usually kills a 2stroke)
