Mum's just heard and felt something snap in her calf doing a workout DVD

She's sat on the sofa at the mo with a bag of frozen peas against it. Anyone have any ideas exactly what she could have done - and how long it's gonna hurt for? She can't even walk. I said I'd get her some crutches but she reckons she'll be fine after today, I wasn't so sure...

If she felt something snap, I'd be getting to the hospital.

Could be torn ankle ligaments, is her foot floppy it may be achilles, although she would be in a world of hurt if it was that and it would take more than frozen peas. If its a tendon or muscle tear she's prob lookin at anythin from 3 weeks onwards. Hospital will probably tell you to rest it for 6 weeks and give her a pressure bandage or tubey grip. A physio or sportds injuries specialist will tell you more specifically, docs and nurses are crap with this kind of thing. Speaking from previous experience..

Cheers, she tried NHS direct and they said she's just pulled a muscle, just keep it raised, weight off it for 24 hours before hobbling around on it again.
