at first i thought it was out of petrol as the light was on - so went and got some petrol, filled her up - no joy
then thought it may have been a dead battery so stuck some leads on - no joy
the starter motor will turn but engine just doesnt seem to want to "bite" anyone any ideas?! and please dont say timing belt!!

Have you checked the actual belt yet?
Maybe crank sensor or cam sensor maybe?

as have said in my other thread there was an aweful rattle coming from the engine - have been told that could have been pinking, lifters, water pump etc
havent checked the belt as not had the chance - will be tomorrow
could be the altenator as the car was dying the more and more i tried it - but it would anyway with the engine not going to charge the battery wouldnt it!?!?
cheers guys

does it crank over as if youve got a flat batt or does it turn over to quickly as if there is no compression,

take oil cap off and try to crank it, if the cams dont move its the timing belt.

the rattling you heard previously to it stopping could have been the timing belt tensioner if it was worn.
