right iv just spent the day fitting a powerbox to my astra 96. iv used a tigra lower inlet then a powerbox on that.

got everything fitted on and started and the car revs at about 3-4k then shoots up till i have to turn it off.

does anybody have any idea whats doing it?

really need to sort it tomorrow as i need the car for work and i dont really want to swap all the bits around again

There will be an air leak around the inlet somewhere, Steve X16XE had exactly the same problem.

on the inlet manifold or on the pipes that come off the powerbox would you think. just would like to track it down to a certain thing that may be causing it

new inlet gasket went on the manifold to the block and from the powerbox to the manifold

saying about gaskets i didnt put one egr blanking plate and the manifold so that could be the air leak?

if you have taken the egr off then yes but if its still there then not really needed.id say its around where i said earlier as they only need a small leak to do what yours is doing.

^^ yeah needed to drill the holes.

just put some instant gasket round the tb to the powerbox and i think there was a leakcoming from there cos now i started it up and it was idleing alright. drove up the ally to go for a test drive and then it started to go from1.5k to 2.5k then back to 1.5 andjust keeps doing that. ivjust got back and let it idle for a min but it still does it

the management light is also now on, i dont know what the paperclip test site is either has anybody got a link

start it with the bonnet up if the revs start raising then try putting a rag tight round the tb + powerbox join thats how i found mine

The management lights on because the ecu has completely closed the idle valve, and its still idling too high....
So it thinks the valves faulty and brings the light on.

put your hand down by the throttle body and see if you can feel a leak. you will most probably find that a gasket has gone somewhere or you havent tightened something down fully.
