They all make a noise.

Personally, i think the more expensive ones are just gimmicky with little things like rmeote start, etc.

I've got a Clifford 650 on my Astra.

I think i cost £400. Had it about 4 years now and no problems.

It got broken into and about £1000 worth of stuff got nicked even my car mats went

So i use my insurance money that i'd been saving to pay for it. So started saving hard for the 3 months after that.

I had a toad ai606 fitted to my mk3 golf and corsa, never had problems with them.

Someone broke into my golf during the day but i heard the alarm came outside and they sped off!

Toad alarms see to be very good. The amount of cars we get in the garage with shit alarms is unbelieveable but never had a toad one that has caused any problems.

Gotta standard Vx alarm in mine, covers all the usual bits and pieces (boot, bonnet etc) doesn't take much to set it off so thats good enough for me.

to be honest most of the bigger names are decent, its just the quality of the install that lets many down

I rate Toads. Good value too.

What ever alarm you get, which hasn't been mentioned, just make sure it's at least Thatcham Category 1, otherwise there is not much point.

I had a Clifford 600 fitted to my Astra GSi, Install was spot on. Had it over 4 years with no problems. Only thing that went wrong was the bonnet pin broke, Alarm shop gave me a new one for free.

On my Cav I've got a Toad Ai606. Bought from ebay for £100, Me and a mate fitted it and haven't had a problem in over 6 months. It's not thatcham approved but can be if I get the installation checked and certified for about £30-40.

I rate both alarms but for cost I'd say Toad are better and more reliable, I've heard a lot of Cliffords have problems due to them being more complex and bad installation.

As long as it has thatcham 1 anything would do i supoe but it just depends on the quality of the product itself and the installation etc.

Id say the cliffords are good because there are a lot of features you can have with them, but so do a few alarms eg toad!

Im looking into a Gemini one now as my local auto electrician does them, going for a look at one he has in his garage with one in next week!

It is. If fitted by a certified fitter. Well, you can only get discount on insurance with a certificate
