Seeing as basicly these engines are the same, will the Fuel Pump, Turbo and Inlet be fine for the 1.7? Also do these engines have ECU's? I thought it was all done mechanicly. I have the chance of all the bits on here for £50.
Before anyone says anything both Non Turbo and Turbo Isuzu engines internally are the same. Check the How to bit on diesel tuning on here.

Turbocharger
The 1.5D has a compression ratio of 22:1 and the TD has 21:1
The 1.7D uses the same engine but with larger pistons

Its a mechanical fuel pump.
Newer, common rail diesel engines have ECUs, easier remaps then tbh, fiddling with the fuel pump etc for more boost is an arse imo.

I thought the engines were the same? Just bigger bore. Surely GM just used the same Turbo gear for the 1.5 and 1.7? Do i need all the gear off the 1.7 Turbo then?
I'm confused!

yes thats on the 1.5 but chances are its the same as the 1.7 its because one is turbo and one isnt

Still confused. In layman terms can i fit the 1.7 gear or not?

They will fit fine, but the proper turbo engine has a lower compression to compensate for the boost from the turbo.
Adding the turbo etc might well blow the engine up. You would need lower compression pistons.

Yes it would, but i was told by the mechanics that mine is a peach of an engine. if i got hold of another and shoved it in, it might not be as good an engine.

Right oK, studied it a bit more and understand.
Will have to find a whole engine close by then.
