What a load of bollocks

Mopping as mentioned is where the car is buffed with a rotary polisher using g3 which is a cutting compound, which in turn in single english cuts through a slight layer of the laquar taking any marks or faded patches away.

It isnt covering up anything it is removing them! its only £70 for a reason, because thats all it costs to do it, ie an hour and a h
alf at most of labour!

what about the laquer will i still have it after its been done

yeah its like t-cut but a whole lot better really

Anless the paint and lacquar on the car is crap, then it will remove a lot.
Same if you dont watch the edges and burn thru.

That should never happen as long as you keep the rotary pad wet, it only burns due to lack of water which in turn creates friction.

You will definetly have laquar left mate i have seen 25year old cars mopped and they come out awesome. worth every penny in my eyes

Sorry but even with the head dripping wet if you stay on the edges of a pannel where the paint can be at its thinest you will burn thru.

Buts that why you get a bodyshop to do it, as they will know where the thinest parts are, i have done exactly what you said before now.

see no problem getting it done by a body shop, its a quick cheap way to freshen the paint up,

NEVER going to be as good as repainting though, Id go for it

Yeah it will bring the colour, and if you keep it waxed and looked after you'll not notice the colour difference.

Exactly why I want to get mine mopped - only need the sides and roof though, but that is for the bodyshop to decide. I wonder if I can fit it in before PVS. The trouble is, got Uni assignments right up until the day

I charge £80 for mopping and have done for years, In both the bodyshops ive worked in we charge around £120 and what i do is G3 the whole car on a light compound head then wax the whole car and it does make a big difference especially on a red car.

As been said yes,
If a bodyshop mop the car... or you give it to a "deatailler" it will have the same thing done. But most bodyshops know the paint better.
Only difference will be that a "deatailler" will wax the car more than an bodyshop will.
