It doesn't zoom mate, they get amazing detail compared to what a standard lens pics up 50mm.

thats what I mean, I Knew they were fixed but wernt sure if they were for just close ups

you use them for close up and portraits right?

and what about landscapes?

Can use them for anything, just need to move closer or further away instead of zooming on the lens.

Matt I also spotted this on my search for a 50mm, thought it could broaden the usage of the lense

Why did you buy it?

Use it for whatever looks good. You don't always have to fill the screen with whatever your shooting

Your legs become the zoom.

I have a Nikon D40 so the 50mm is no use as it's MF only which I'm crap at tbh.

Same with the d60, was a little gutted about it, but it's made me MF on other lenses now too, so it's not a bad thing I guess

On the d40 / d40x and the d60, is it lens's with AF-S on the box compatible, but just plain AF doesnt? (If that makes sense )
