my mate ran 100% used veggie oil in his chavalier for ages. Ran fine although it stank, but that was part of the fun.

That doesn't help when your fuel pump is submerged in a tank of waxed/gelled fuel though.

open fuel filler flap, take off cap. Pour in vegetable oil (be careful not to spill any), replace cap, close flap...
drive
I'd only use it on pre 2000 cars that have more old fashioned injection pumps. If your planning on running more that 50/50 i'd suggest some fuel heating system to thin the oil putting less strain on the pump/injectors.

a filtering system for used veg oil can be very cheap to set up. I plan on using used cooking oil through a home made filtering system and mixing it with 10-15% kerosene.

remember to drain the water from the bottom of the used oil. Used oil also has alot of acids but costic soda sorts that out

I've heard that used oil works better. A chap on Fifth Gear runs an old Merc off of 100% veg oil, and on Top Gear series 1 (of the new style ones - as we know it) episode 1 one of the things they do is tell you how to run a car off veg oil. The chap says stick a couple of ml kerosene in for each litre of oil and it'll be dandy.
I'll try and sort out uploading a video clip tomorrow, can't be bothered tonight
