anyone know what this could be it seems to be coming from the cam vernier, or something on the side, pulleys etc. Has anyone had or got this problem? used wd40 to try and cure it but no luck..........

dude that sounds pritty deadly. i wouldnt run it untill you find out what it is. 1st thing to check is that everything is tight. i would also take the cam cover off to check inside ect

Have heard funny noises around that rpm when the tensioner was goosed

it sounds like a bearing of some sort, maybe alternator, or like Neep sed the tensioner, it doesnt sound particularly bad, but obv want to get it sorted before it gets worse

no i was particularly careful there, wouldn want it slipping off. Used and extended straw to get in behind the tensioners and pulleys, i think it might be the tensoiner but i really cant be sure

Tensioners or waterpump.

I would get that looked at ASAP. Tensioner buggers -> Snapped belt and buggered engine

check the cam belt tensioner definitly, is it alright on idle? then when you rev, it rattles?
mine started rattling like a mofo at 2k when the tensioner wasnt tightening up as the thread in the oil pump was shreaded to bits .

Do you find it getting worse the more you rev?

I replaced the exact mentioned + now everybodys happy


Full tensioner + rollers kit,
Water pump + cam belt

leave it as it is mate.... that way you can xe it when it goes bang

is the clutch slipping? if youve got inspection plates have a look to see how worn the plates are

I dont think so Dan295 it only seems to do it after its been on a run as well! Dodgey, ill have a closer look tonight
